2023 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Graveyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

96 Points

This wine shows the concentration that only a vineyard planted in 1988 can deliver. The Graveyard Block takes its name from an 1800s homesteader's tombstone that still stands among the vines. Aromatically, it’s bold yet nuanced, with a subtle floral lift over dark fruits, baking spices, herbs, and a gravelly mineral edge. The tannins are ripe but not overpowering, leaving room for tart blackberries and a savoury undertone to show. It’s a tiny production of only four barrels, made entirely from low-yielding, small-berried clusters, and fully destemmed to tame their naturally firm tannins while preserving the vineyard’s unmistakable power.

2023 Kutch McDougall Ranch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

95 Points

McDougall Ranch is usually the first pick for Kutch each year, even with being so close to the ocean at just 2.5 miles. But sitting high above the fog at 1,010 feet, it bathes in intense sunshine while catching strong sea breezes. The rocky, sandstone soils also contribute to the character of this wine. You can feel that coastal energy in the glass: lavender, sun-kissed blue and blackberries, a cool freshness, and a salty ocean breeze. On the palate, it carries a bit more power and plushness than other Kutch Pinots, with a deeper core of fruit, a slightly savoury character, and a touch more grip from its tannins.

2023 Kutch Bohan Salt Point Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

94 Points

The Bohan Salty Point Block Chardonnay is bright and slightly reductive.  Tangerine peel, white flowers, melon rind, and a touch of almonds weave through a saline frame, all shaped by 20% new French oak, and a year on lees before resting in stainless. Only 10 barrels were produced.
